Privacy notice
What information this website collects when you visit it, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
This website is run by Gravitate North East, which is responsible for any personal information collected through it.
The short version
- You do not need to give us any personal information to use this website.
- We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
- The website uses two cookies that it needs in order to work, explained below.
Cookies
The website sets two cookies. Both are strictly necessary, so they do not need your consent:
- gravitate-north-east-session keeps track of your visit, for example so that the people who update the site stay signed in while they update the site. It expires after two hours of inactivity.
- XSRF-TOKEN protects the website against a type of attack called cross-site request forgery. It also expires after two hours.
Neither cookie is used to identify you or to track you across other websites.
Server logs
Like almost every website, our web server automatically records basic technical information about each request, such as your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for and the time. These logs are used only to keep the website secure and working, are kept for a limited period by our hosting provider, and are not used to build a profile of you. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
Downloads
When you download a document, we count the download. The count is just a number: we do not record who downloaded it.
Fonts and embedded videos
The fonts on this website are served from our own server, so loading a page does not contact Google or any other font service.
Some pages may include videos from YouTube or Vimeo. We embed them in their privacy-enhanced modes, which do not set cookies before you play the video. When you press play, the video is streamed from YouTube or Vimeo, who will receive your IP address and handle it under their own privacy policies.
Links to other websites
This website links to other organisations, such as Forestry and Land Scotland. Their websites have their own privacy notices, which we do not control.
People who update this website
If you have an account to edit this website, we store your name, email address and a scrambled (hashed) copy of your password so that you can sign in. These details are deleted when your account is removed.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how we use it. To make a request, contact us using the details below.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
